An international circus performer walks into the pub, guitar in hand, and reminded us of why this place exists.
This is Shannon McGurgan.
A bloke who’s performed in circuses all around the world, and here he was at the Central, guitar in hand, soda water with a bit of ice, singing Aussie classics.
Shannon spent the past year on the West Coast working on The Ship That Never Was and he’s loved it.
Henty Dunes.
Ocean Beach.
“The Gordon River is amazing,” he says.
He’s never been one for a normal life - he lives for sayings like,
“Don’t think, just do it.
We spend too much time thinking, and it stops us from doing.”
That one stuck.
Shannon actually lives it.
He backs himself.
He keeps growing.
He follows the road wherever it leads, and somehow, it led him right here to Zeehan.
Next stop is Adelaide Fringe, where he’ll be doing a clown show, but we’re pretty bloody proud that our town and our pub attract people like this. People who remind us that you don’t need a perfect plan - you just need to start.
Song of the night: Little Conversations by Concrete Blonde.
Good people.
Good energy.
And a solid reminder to stop overthinking and just have a crack.
