I'm sharing my story to warn others about a deeply fraudulent individual and his family who have demonstrated a shocking lack of integrity. This is a reminder to always be cautious

On May 30th, Apurbo Mondal, a student at Presidency University Bangladesh, rented equipment from Rent a Gear. He took a Vintage V100 AFD guitar and a Hotone MP-100 effects pedal for a total of เงณ12,000. He paid an advance of only เงณ4,200, which was less than half of the total amount. I trusted him and proceeded with the rental.

As the rental period was ending, I contacted him for the remaining payment. He started making excuses, claiming his father, Mrinal Kanti Mandal, was in critical condition. When he finally returned the gear, he continued to claim his family was struggling financially due to his fatherโ€™s "dying" condition and he would need more time to pay. He even posted a private story on social media showing his father in an ICU, which I later found out was completely fabricated.

My suspicions led me to contact his father, hoping he would help settle the debt. Instead, Mr. Mandal was uncooperative and even hostile. He questioned why I rented to his adult son without a legal guardian's permission and refused to take any responsibility for his sonโ€™s actions.

After he was caught in his lies, Apurbo called me, crying and apologizing, promising to pay me back. I gave him more time, but he repeatedly failed to repay his loan. He kept making excuses, eventually claiming his familyโ€™s financial situation was poor and he would have to pay me back from his pocket money. Over two months, he only paid เงณ550 and continued to offer new excuses, including a claim of suffering from epilepsy.

To make matters worse, when I gave him a final reminder that I would file a General Diary (GD) with the police, his sister called me, telling me to do whatever I wanted and that they would not repay me.

I have already reported this to both his university and the local police. I am sharing this so that others in the community are aware of this family's deceptive behavior. Please be cautious if you ever have any dealings with Apurbo Mondal or his family.
