We recently had the pleasure of welcoming students from Howest to Hotel De Castillion. During a 90-minute behind-the-scenes tour, we showed them how even the smallest details tell a story.

From the way we fold our breakfast napkins to the records playing in our Golden Lounge, every detail is carefully considered. Because in hospitality, communication goes far beyond words. It's about the experience you create for your guests.

As a family-run hotel, now in its second generation, it was a pleasure to share our passion with the next generation of marketers.

We recently had the pleasure of welcoming Belgian icon Marijn Devalck Balthasar Boma and the crew of Mihamedia to our hotel in Bruges for a special shoot.

We can't reveal too much just yet, but let's just say our hotel will soon be making an appearance on the big screen. 👀

Love the records playing in our Golden Lounge?

They all come from one shop. Rombaux. A family-run music store where four generations have shared the same passion for music. 🎶

Step inside the beautiful historic building and browse through an impressive collection of vinyl, from classical and jazz to film music and chanson. A must-visit for music lovers.

Stephen ends his generous review by saying we are a bit different from the norm.

Which means twenty rooms and no two of them alike. A breakfast laid out under medieval vaults. A front door flanked by Bruges’ historic buildings. And the eye for detail, care, finesse he mentions, is the family recipe here since 1987. All of it aimed at one thing: a stay you’ll always remember.

A freestanding bath beneath original wooden beams…

This is the room to book in late September, when the city has gone quiet again.

After walking all day along the canals, back by six, and the bath does the rest.

There is a king-size bed, and a walk-in rain shower for the mornings you want to be out before the Market fills up. The beams are not decoration. They are holding the house up, and have been since this was a bishop's palace.

Some come to Bruges especially for the monuments. Others wake up in one.

During the Open Monument Weekend of 12 and 13 September, the city opens doors that stay shut the rest of the year. Ours have been open since 1987. A bishop's palace from the 17th century, beside Sint-Salvator's cathedral. A gothic fireplace from the 1500s in the Deluxe Junior Suite. A medieval cellar underneath, older than the palace above it.

None of it is roped off. You sleep in it, eat in it, and leave your coat over the back of a chair.
