Installation day of the stained glass window! the icing on the cake of the Atelier d'Arthur restoration project, finally brought to life by the sparse daylight that is refracted through it.

Atelier d'Arthur owes its name to the former glass studio where baron Arthur Verhaegen made his famous stained-glass windows for churches and public buildings. From the very beginning of the project, we therefore felt that a stained-glass window should be given a central place. We found a perfect partner in the Ghent glass workshop of Katrien Mestdagh. We can’t wait to see the final result, but the first images already look very promising!

ADIEU SCAFFOLDING! The restoration works on the facade have finally been completed… Despite of the chilly greyish autumn days, we are filled with a sunny vibe thanks to the cheerful ocher-colored facade cementation. Maybe a little premature, but we already feel thrilled about the spring to come!

Walls as a silent witness to a filled past. Layer by layer, the history of the building becomes tangible and visible through the characteristic patina that tells the rich story of the building.

Such as at the entrance of the coach house, where the initials J.L. of the original client, Jules Lammens suddenly became visible again ...

In 2004 we were extremely lucky and privileged to purchase "Hotel Verhaegen". We then passionately devoted ourselves to restore the building to its original grandeur. Today, it had become the place where we live, work and where we have the joy of running our B&B ‘The Verhaegen’... Last year we started an exciting new episode in our renovation project! The only part of the property that was not yet tackled, was the west wing, at the back of the garden. At this very moment, this old coach house & the former (and historical) glass workshop of baron Arthur Verhaegen is undergoing a meticulous restoration and will soon be housing our brand new B&B, ‘Atelier d’Arthur’, a name that was chosen out of respect for the original owner, Arthur Verhaegen.

Prior to the opening, we invite you to follow our 'work in progress' and hope to welcome you soon in this new Belgian pearl!
