Our hotel used to be a bank?!🏦

When visiting, you’ll see a small window next to reception. That was where the ATM machine was. And the kitchen was the vault. We didn’t find any money during the renovations though..🥺

Here’s why seasonal produce is a genuine sustainability choice:

Less energy to grow it: out-of-season produce needs heated greenhouses or artificial lighting to grow. Seasonal fruit and veg grow under natural conditions with no extra energy required.

Shorter transport chains: seasonal produce is usually local produce. Local means fewer kilometres, less refrigeration, smaller carbon footprint. A strawberry in June that came from 30km away is a very different thing from a strawberry in January.

Less need for preservation: when something is in season, it doesn’t need to travel far or fast; which means less packaging, fewer preservatives, and less cold storage along the way.

It supports local farmers: buying seasonal usually means buying from nearby growers. That keeps money in the local economy and builds relationships with people who farm with the land rather than against it.

Better for soil health too: seasonal farming tends to follow more natural crop rotation patterns, which is better for soil biodiversity over time.
