Since last night Monte Marcella Higher Level Resort had the honour of hosting Team Belgium for an inspiring edition of the Olympic Coaching Platform: Winter Meets Summer.

Valuable insights, meaningful connections and the shared ambition of building excellence together. Bringing coaches, experts and Olympic minds together in a setting designed to inspire made this event truly special.

📸 Looking back at the Science & Cycling Symposium Flanders 2026 – Thursday, April 2 🚴‍♂️🔬

We look back on an inspiring afternoon at Monte Marcella Higher Level Resort, where knowledge sharing, networking and enjoyment were at the heart of the Science & Cycling Symposium.
The program started with Wouter Peeters (Newcastle University), who reflected on thinking about tools and protocols to measure fatigue resistance of cycling in the laboratory, reminding us not to forget the basics of science.
This was followed by Franck Brocherie (INSEP), together with Janne Bouten, who translated research from lab to road by discussing how heat and hypoxia can be used to improve fatigue resistance in cycling.
After a short coffee break, David de Klerk (Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe) presented his insights on rethinking the ‘non-responder’ and the physiological determinants of the Hbmass response to altitude.
Jasper Vaeck (Team Visma | Lease a Bike) then explored what we can learn from the effect of altitude training on durability.
The afternoon concluded with an engaging panel discussion featuring Wouter Peeters, David de Klerk, Jasper Vaeck, Janne Bouten and Lieselot Decroix, followed by a standing dinner at Bar Marcel where conversations continued in a relaxed and informal atmosphere.

Wat een prestaties in de Ronde van Vlaanderen!

Monte Marcella Higher Level Resort wil het team van feliciteren met de sterke teamprestatie. Het was puur genieten om de renners in actie te zien in dé wielerklassieker bij uitstek!
