Social Firms Europe CEFEC

Social Firms Europe CEFEC Social Firms Europe CEFEC is the only network of Social Firms across Europe!

Social Firms Europe CEFEC is a European Network of Social Firms, Social Co-operatives, NGO’s and organizations that all share the objective of creating paid work for disabled and disadvantaged people. At a time when employment is increasingly difficult for individuals who are at a significant distance from the labour market because of their disability or disadvantage, it is essential that we creat

e the jobs for such groups and one of the most obvious solutions is to facilitate the start-up and operation of Social Firm and social co-operative businesses that offer real, paid, sustainable employment options within a supportive working environment. Social Firms Europe CEFEC is a truly participative and integrative network, working on behalf of its members across all the EU member states to:

Promote the model of Social Firms and social co-operatives at EU, national and regional levels:

Collect data and evidencing about the impact of Social Firms
Facilitate networking and sharing of best practice between members
Share skills and expertise of members
Encourage and explore opportunities for further research into the Social Firm model as it operates in different EU countries
Promote and facilitate where possible inter-trading opportunities between Social Firm businesses

Do join us in this work… we are stronger together!

Social Firms Europe CEFEC, represented by Mrs. Anna Barbara Sum from BAG Inklusionsfirmen, was delighted to take part in the European Disability Forum's Annual General Assembly in Limassol (Cyprus), where 🎉 Gunta Anča (Chairperson of the Latvian disability NGO umbrella SUSTENTO) was elected as the new President, alongside new governing bodies for 2026–2030.

👏 Congratulations to all, and a heartfelt thank you to Ioannis Vardakastanis for his outstanding leadership and dedication over the past years.

🤩 A historic milestone: for the first time, two persons with intellectual disabilities were elected to the Board: Soufiane El Amrani (Inclusion Europe, Belgium) and Joachim Busch (Deutscher Behindertenrat, Germany). This marks an important step forward for inclusive representation.

Delegates also discussed the 👉 European Commission's "Enhanced" Disability Rights Strategy, which falls short of EDF's demands and the EU's obligations under the UN CRPD.

Other 📝 key topics included the next EU Budget, the Disability Card, Passenger Rights, the proposed Regulation on the Protection of Adults, and important reforms in Cyprus on disability allowances, employment access, healthcare and inclusive education.

Social Firms Europe CEFEC stands ready to work with EDF and partners to turn ambition into action for inclusive employment and stronger disability rights across Europe.
