We were honored to welcome Luis Revilla, Governor of the Department of La Paz, together with his wife and children to Madidi Kullpana Ecolodge.
During their visit, we had the opportunity to present our ecolodge, its development, and everything that has been achieved through local commitment, Indigenous knowledge, and community based tourism.
We were especially delighted by the family’s enthusiasm for Madidi Kullpana and their appreciation of what has been created here. 💚
For us, this visit was also an opportunity to share our vision for tourism in the Madidi region: authentic experiences, local participation, respect for Indigenous culture, and the long term protection of one of the most biodiverse places on Earth. 🌎🌿

🌿 The Chakana – a connection between Earth and the cosmos

The Chakana, also known as the Andean Cross, is a sacred symbol of the Andean cultures of Bolivia and Peru. Its steps represent the three interconnected worlds of the Andean worldview: the upper world of the heavens, the present world in which we live, and the inner world of the Earth.

Its four arms point toward the four cardinal directions and remind us of the balance between people, community, nature, and the cosmos.

Although the Chakana is not an original symbol of Madidi National Park, it takes on a special meaning here: Madidi lies at the transition between the Andes and the Amazon, where different landscapes, cultures, and ways of life come together.

The Chakana reminds us that all life is part of one greater whole. 🌎✨
