This high season was historic for Florianópolis. Never before had the island seen so many tourists, with a record number of both national and international flights. Florianópolis even reached number 4 on Booking.com’s travel list - right after Dubai, Paris, and London! We expected madness, and madness is exactly what we got. 😎
Normally, we leave a day between bookings to allow for cleaning the apartment, changing bedding, and resetting everything at a humane pace. But this year, the requests came in thick and fast from all channels, with guests begging for every extra day. For the first time in nine years, we broke our policy and started accepting same-day bookings - check-out in the morning, check-in in the afternoon. At times, we worked with a team of five or six just to get everything ready in time for the next guests.
It’s been an exceptional high season - and it's still not over. We’re still fully booked (in April!), with no days in between reservations. When we finally get a moment to breathe, we’ll be taking time to reflect on the impact this season has had on us, and how we can continue to be the kind of hosts we’ve always aspired to be - while staying true to the kind of tourism we believe in for the island, especially in our beautiful corner of it, Campeche. 🌴💛
