This beach changes shape throughout the day.

Pigeon Cay is a small, undeveloped island inside Moriah Harbour Cay National Park in the Exumas.

Tides and currents continually move fine white sand around the cay, depositing it into a long point. As the tide falls, more of that sand is exposed, creating the island’s signature teardrop-shaped beach and a sandbar stretching into the surrounding turquoise water.

But the beach is only part of what makes Pigeon Cay special.

The island is home to endangered Bahamian rock iguanas. These prehistoric-looking reptiles are native to The Bahamas, and some populations survive on only a small number of isolated cays.

They have adapted to life in a harsh island environment with limited fresh water, intense sun and very little human development. Their heavy bodies, powerful legs and long tails make them look intimidating, but they primarily eat leaves, flowers and fruit.

Seeing one in the wild is completely different from seeing an ordinary lizard. They can grow surprisingly large, move quickly when they need to and often emerge from the vegetation to warm themselves in the sun.

Pigeon Cay also provides an important nesting area for seabirds. Offshore, clear water, coral reefs and seagrass habitats make it a beautiful place to snorkel and look for tropical fish, rays, turtles and other marine life.

A day around Pigeon Cay can include:
• Walking the teardrop beach at low tide
• Swimming and snorkeling in clear, shallow water
• Watching the rock iguanas from a respectful distance
• Looking for nesting and coastal birds
• Exploring nearby sandbars, beaches and smaller cays
• Boating through the mangrove creeks and turquoise flats of Moriah Harbour Cay National Park

Never feed, touch or chase the iguanas. Feeding wild iguanas can change their natural behavior and make them dependent on visitors.

Because the surrounding water can become extremely shallow and difficult to navigate, we recommend visiting with an experienced boat guide who understands the tides. Of course, we can connect you, it's what we do best.

šŸ“ Comment ā€œCOCONUTā€ for booking info on Coconut Shy Estate.

Coconut Shy Estate is a bay-side Harbour Island estate in Dunmore Town with room for up to 15 guests across 6 rooms, 9 beds, and 6 baths. The setup is especially strong for bigger family trips or group stays because the property includes two separate fully equipped homes: the Main House and the Cottage.

What makes it stand out right away is the outdoor setup: a private beach, private dock, and sunset infinity pool, plus a shaded cabana and a fully equipped outdoor kitchen with propane grill. The page also says the dock and beach are just steps from the house, making boating, paddleboarding, and slow waterfront days a central part of the stay.

The layout is also designed well for groups. The Main House includes a stunning veranda for al fresco dining and bedding that includes king and twin options, while the Cottage adds three king bedrooms, a single bed, a covered terrace for sunsets, and a private bar area.

For everyday comfort, the listing includes daily housekeeping, satellite internet, luxury linens, beach towels, a full laundry room, a safe RO water system, a generator, smart TVs, air conditioning, and even a small gym. It also calls out highchairs, cribs, toys, and games, which makes the house especially practical for family groups.

What makes these mangrove forests so special?
For one, the canals form a natural lazy river. You can pull right up by kayak, hop into the crystal-clear water with your snorkeling gear, and drift through a living Bahamian forest teeming with life, sea turtles, juvenile fish, starfish, and rays.

It’s one of the safest, calmest ways to experience untouched Bahamian nature. You get the feeling of being completely immersed in the wild, while still feeling peaceful and secure.

These mangrove ā€œlazy riverā€ channels aren’t technically rivers. They’re shallow tidal creeks and lagoons that wind through mangrove wetlands, with the water level and flow driven mainly by the tides. We call it a ā€œlazy riverā€ because as the tide moves in and out, that tidal current creates a gentle flow through the channels that can float you along in a similar way.

Comment ā€œFoster Hillā€ for more info on Foxy Lady.

Foxy Lady is the largest estate in the Foster Hill collection, a half-acre waterfront compound overlooking the private marina with sweeping ocean views. It is built for large families, group getaways, corporate trips, and wellness retreats that want space, privacy, and a true home base in Exuma.

The layout is split across two residences and sleeps up to 16. The main house sleeps 8 and includes 4 bedrooms with 3 king beds and 1 queen bed. Each bedroom has its own ensuite bathroom, plus there is an additional half bath and a dedicated laundry room. The guest house sleeps 8 and is set up with 2 queen beds, 2 double beds, and 2 twin beds, supported by 3 full bathrooms and a family room for movie nights and downtime.

Outside is designed for full days on site. There is a private pool, an outdoor whirlpool bath, an outdoor pergola for dining, a private sand volleyball court, and a fully equipped private gym with its own bathroom. The home also includes central air conditioning, double refrigerators, and an ice machine, which makes a big difference for larger groups.

For boat days, there is a private boat slip, plus kayaks and paddleboards for exploring straight from the dock. Comment ā€œSURF HOUSEā€ or ā€œSUENOā€ for booking info.

These are two separate beachfront homes in Hartswell, in the Moriah Harbour area of Great Exuma, and they are often booked as a duo for larger groups.

Surf House
Sleeps up to 8 with 4 rooms, 4 baths, and 6 beds. The moment you walk in, the sea is the view. Indoor and outdoor living and dining areas are designed for group time, and there is a fully equipped kitchen for everything from quick breakfasts to full dinners. You also get a private pool and private beachfront access, plus the simple Exuma essentials like AC in every bedroom and Wi-Fi. If you want to add adventure without overplanning, this is a strong base for renting a boat and paddling through mangroves and sandbars nearby.

SueƱo de Mar
Sleeps up to 10 with 4 rooms and 5 baths, with a layout designed for privacy, including bedrooms positioned on opposite sides of the home. It has a private pool, a naturally finished wood deck with patio furniture, and a gas grill for easy BBQ nights. A dock is included, which is a big deal if your group is renting a boat and wants to keep it close. The location sits near the Lazy River area, and the home is set up for days that rotate between paddling, wading out from the beach, and coming back to the pool and deck.

Why booking both works so well
For bigger groups, this pairing gives you more space, more privacy, and two complete home bases, while keeping everyone in the same Hartswell zone for shared boat days, beach time, and dinners. It’s a common setup for multi-family trips, milestone weeks, and corporate retreat-style getaways where you want together time without feeling crowded.

If your group is smaller, each home still works beautifully on its own. Both are designed as full, self-contained beachfront stays with the core Exuma features people come for: private pools, direct water access, and easy launching points for the mangroves, sandbars, and sea-life days.

šŸļø Comment ā€œGROTTOā€ for booking info.

Ever stayed beside a natural grotto?
At Grotto Bay, the view from your deck looks straight onto the turquoise waters of Salt Pond’s famous grotto. This peaceful cove is yours to explore, whether that’s a morning paddle in glass‑calm water, an afternoon swim, or a sunset drink with nature as your backdrop.

The beach here is calm, protected, and almost always quiet. It’s perfect for kayaking, paddleboarding, or simply floating in the sun. You’ll likely share the water with a few sea turtles, and if you’re lucky, a curious manatee.

While you’ll feel a world away from crowds, Grotto Bay is just minutes from local favorites, a farmers market, cozy restaurants, and small shops. It’s the kind of community where you get a wave and a smile everywhere you go.

With two bedrooms, ocean‑view living spaces, and shaded outdoor seating, Grotto Bay is made for couples, friends, or small families who want to slow down together in an unforgettable setting.

🐚 Shoutout: Dino’s Conch Standļæ½If you want one of Nassau’s most famous conch salad stops, hit Dino’s Gourmet Conch Salad on West Bay Street at the entrance to Gambier Village, Nassau, New Providence.

They are widely known for their tropical conch salad style.

Every now and then, inside a queen conch, something extremely rare shows up.

A conch pearl.

Most people hear pearl and think of the perfectly round white pearls that come from oysters. But conch pearls are different. They come from queen conch, the same animal that has shaped so much of Bahamian food, culture, and coastal life.

They are usually pink, peach, cream, white, or sometimes deeper reddish tones. The rarest and most valuable ones often have a strong pink color with a natural flame-like pattern across the surface. That flame look is one of the easiest ways to understand why people are obsessed with them.

They do not look like regular pearls.
They have more of a porcelain glow. Smooth, rich, and almost carved-looking. When the light hits the best ones, you can see those little flame lines moving through the color, almost like the pearl has texture under the surface.

And here’s the wild part.

You do not farm these the same way people farm regular pearls. A conch pearl is usually found by chance while cleaning conch. That means someone can open hundreds or thousands of conch and never see one. Then one day, a tiny pink pearl shows up in the meat.
