Philautia is rooted in a concept of True Well-Being and world-class self-care—a distinct one-of-a-kind totally plastics-free boutique resort offering transformative and refreshing experiences set along one of the most beautiful beaches in Eleuthera, The Bahamas.
The resort will include an elegantly-relaxed five-star boutique hotel, spa, organic farm, gardens, and activities that explore the lesser-known gems of the island—all with environmentally-sustainable practices built-in (solar power, rainwater recycling, no plastics), which honor the land and seas, the local community, and island neighbors.
With a fresh dedication to self-discovery, wonder, and connection, Philautia is designed for longer 2 to 3 week stays that allow international guests time to restore health and natural rhythms, recharge energy, and explore all the amazing facets of Eleuthera’s natural beauty and grace.
When complete, Philautia will include 20 hotel suites, 15 stand-alone Villas (1-bedroom, 2-bedroom, or 3-bedroom villas), as well as a limited number of Private Home Sites which owners may make available for rentals.
A 20-acre Organic Farm & Orchard will supply super-fresh foods and space for free range chickens (organic eggs), goats (goat cheese), seasonal vegetables, and fresh herbs. Philautia will also work with local farmers, food artisans, and makers in the area to provide our Chef with the finest ingredients to prepare purely delicious and nourishing meals for our guests and staff. The tropical orchards of Philautia will keep us supplied with organically-grown mangoes, pineapples, sugar bananas, avocados, coconuts, almonds, dillies, and a variety of fruit. Good nutrition is the core of good health and is very important to us. We look forward to helping build support for a local network of farmers and suppliers of wholesome organic ingredients for our Philautia menus and special events.
RESTAURANTS & EATERIES at Philautia will provide a variety of tasty fare and settings, including a Main Restaurant Dining & Bar, a Bistro Cafe for casual fare, a Poolside Bar with light bites and blended health drinks, and a Music Patio for impromptu concerts with local and international musicians.
The VILLAGE at Philautia will host a range of creative activities and entertainment, as well as a BIO CLINIC & SPA for optimal health and wellness services, such as skincare, massage, purifying detox and immune-boosting treatments, fitness, yoga, and outdoor training / core-strengthening facilities. An Art Gallery & Resident Artist Studio with ongoing workshop classes will provide a host of opportunities to try new creative pursuits. An Outdoor Amphitheatre will host concerts, presentations, and cinema screening, along with an indoor movie theatre. Specialty stores, including an “Eleuthera Made” shop will feature local handcrafted items and notions. An After School Study Center (Homework Haven), and Kindergarten will also be arranged for our staff’s children. A unique Bush Medicine station with nutrient-dense, antioxidant-rich teas and all-natural tonics infused from local plants such as Lemongrass, Moringa, Passion Fruit, Cerasee, and Mint, will feature folk medicine as handed down and recommended by Bahamian elders throughout the generations.
Set on one of the most gorgeous beaches in Eleuthera, Philautia will also feature customized guided tours to little-known off-the-beaten track spots where guests can enjoy the spectacular natural beauty and learn about the land and seas and culture from locals who know the island best.
Philautia’s architecture will reflect a new blend of environmentally-sound buildings inspired by the most sustaining island designs from yesterday and today. The landscaping will reflect special attention and the utmost respect for the natural setting.
Plans are underway to break ground on the construction of Philautia in early 2020.
