Nirvana Beach a.k.a Love Beach - Officially the number one beach on the island is Cabbage Beach but as a local I can tell you the best kept secret beach in Nassau is Nirvana Beach. Cabbage Beach is over ran with tourist, jet ski's, and vendors. Nirvana is tranquil with just the right amount of seclusion and there is a bar!!!!

Nassau City Scavenger-Hunt Adventure

Race against time to hunt for clues and complete challenges — and get to know Nassau while you’re at it — on this 1.5-hour scavenger hunt. Separate into teams and set off to explore the Bahamian capital armed with a marked map. Visit some of the city’s best-loved spots, including Parliament Square and the Queen’s Staircase, while collecting points and learning about the city’s art, culture and history. The team who collects the most points in the least amount of time wins. Ready, set, go!

Make your way to Rawson Square in downtown Nassau roughly 15 minutes before your scheduled start time. After you’ve registered with the race director, you’ll be divided into teams of three to six people and receive a map marked with 40 points of interest. See the Itinerary for a sample list of places marked on the map.

Get a full briefing from the race director on the rules of the scavenger hunt, and then come up with an awesome team name to intimidate your competitors. You’ll also want to make sure at least one member of your team has a digital camera or camera-ready smartphone.

Once all teams are ready and you’ve been given the green light, set off to begin the hunt. You have 1.5 hours to visit as many of the sites on the map as possible. The order in which you hit the sites isn’t important, but your team must stay together throughout and you must answer a question or complete a challenge at each site to acquire points.

The scavenger hunt finishes at Pompey Square, where all of the teams’ score are tallied. If your team has secured the most points and followed the rules along the way, you’ll nab the prize. But if you break the rules, another team will swoop in and claim the prize.

The rules include:
Don’t leave the starting location until you’ve received instruction from the race director
Teams arriving more than 15 minutes late to the hunt forfeit their right to the prize
Obey all traffic laws and do not commit any crimes to complete the challenges (remember, it’s just a game)
Teams that arrive after the 1.5-hour time period concludes receive a 5-point deduction for every minute late

Doongalik Studios was formed in the 1970s by the late Jackson Burnside III, architect, artist and cultural advocate, and his wife, Pam. The couple have spent their lifetime committed to promoting the country's outstanding artistic talent which they firmly believe can establish The Bahamas as an international center of creativity.

Doongalik Studios Art Gallery has one location in Nassau - #20 Village Road which is home to a large Exhibition Gallery in an historically traditional building nestled amongst a lush garden.

Doongalik's mission is to ensure that by the year 2020, the majority of visitors to The Bahamas will come to experience Bahamian Art, Culture and Heritage rather than merely Sun, Sand and Sea.

The finest Bahamian paintings and sculptures can be found here, the work of Antonius Roberts, The Bahamas' most noted artist and sculptor. He is motivated by a personal philosophy that can be briefly described as conservation, transformation, and preservation. These words are well illustrated by his 'sacred space' concept in The Bahamas, which he would like to pursue internationally with installations inspired by and suited to particular locations.

The Bahamas Historical Society is a non-profit cultural and educational organisation dedicated to stimulating interest in Bahamian History and to the collection and preservation of material relating to that history.

One of the society's main objectives is to improve its Museum and to open it more frequently to the public. Society programmes and publications are made possible by membership dues, donations and advertisements in the Journal.

The Society is governed by its Articles of Association. The Annual General Meeting (AGM) is held during the month of April.

Bahamian artist, Mr Alton Lowe kindly designed the crest for the Bahamas Historical Society, which appears on this website. It was being used for the first time in connection with the celebration of the society's twenty-fifth anniversary in October 1984. The crest depicts a sailing sloop; these boats have played such an important role in the life and the development of the Bahama Islands.
