Hi all - recent pictures of the Far Side and a note from the owner JL:
For info: see below what my friend Bill has organized in less than a week from Delray Beach.
I praise his decision to by-pass MH bureaucracy, as Nassau is strangling relief and recovery.
Just as an illustration, a fellow landed in Sandy Point with a plane full of food and water. The Customs lady told him that she would have to apply duty on his cargo as it was more than for personal consumption. She had to back off when a throng of locals became vociferous and menacing.
Michael Lamb, Brian Tindall, Frédéric Barthe, and I are putting together a reconstruction effort centered on Tilloo, Lubbers, Elbow, and possibly Treasure Cay.
Fred has applied for a 501(c) status (non-profit) through which channel tax-deductible funds;
Hopetown Fire & Rescue may have that status already.
Michael is gathering heavy equipment from his construction company to clean up the mess and use in reconstruction;
Brian is organizing barge transport and the reconstruction effort.
Strength is in numbers, so I urge you to join our effort in the speedy relief and reconstruction that will save our community, its real estate and Abaco tourism.
Thanks again for your incredible outpouring of generosity and we promise to do our best to make every donation count. If you’d like to donate cash, we suggest the Abaco Relief Fund: https://discoverylandcofoundation.org/donate/, which is a well established foundation dedicated to helping families in Marsh Harbor and the Abacos.
