When Cresta President first opened its doors in 1966, it was built with more than hospitality in mind. The hotel was established in anticipation of a historic royal visit to the Bechuanaland Protectorate on the eve of Botswana’s independence.

Princess Marina, Duchess of Kent, representing Queen Elizabeth II, later spent a night at the hotel, adding a royal chapter to the President’s story.
