"We had such a wonderful stay at Island Maun. It came highly recommended by members of the DriveBots group, and it certainly lived up to the praise.

After eight rough and dusty days in the bush, it was an absolute pleasure to arrive somewhere so clean and welcoming.

The food was delicious, the beds were comfortable and we had a fantastic night's rest before continuing our journey. The service was outstanding, with the staff going above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable.

We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again and highly recommend Island Maun to anyone looking for a comfortable stopover in Maun."

“While there may be many places to stay in the town of Maun now, Island Safari Lodge is an absolute gem and hands down the best place of all.

From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed and completely at home. In truth even before we arrived working with Kemo their reservationist was a joy she was quick to respond to my numerous inqueries and a real joy to meet in person upon arrival. The grounds and resturant staff are genuinely friendly, attentive, and always ready to help — their hospitality set the tone for our entire stay.

The lodge’s setting along the Thamalakani river is stunning. Waking up to birdsong and each morning's sunrise was a real highlight but so was just watching the water drift by, and listening to the occasional hippo or relaxing under the shade of the trees made every moment feel peaceful and connected to nature.

Our room, we had cabin two, was comfortable, clean, and thoughtfully arranged, offering everything needed for a relaxing stay. This was especially important as we had about a 40-hour flight combination to get there.

The food was excellent — fresh, flavorful, and served with care by a super friendly restaurant staff. I really enjoyed the chicken periperi and sesswa (a local dish).

Island Safari Lodge strikes the perfect balance between comfort, nature, and warm hospitality. It is also about 5 miles outside of Maun proper which gives it a wonderfully tranquil feeling. I don’t think you can get at any of the many places right in town. A truly five‑star experience and I highly recommend staying there!”
