Picturesquely situated 100 km west of the Victoria Falls, overlooking the Chobe River and the Caprivi floodplains, the iconic Chobe Game Lodge is the only permanent safari lodge within the Chobe National Park. In addition, four exclusive suites have their own plunge pools and separate lounges.

Travel with family to a place that feels like home.

Here, mornings begin quietly, hot chocolate already warm and waiting by the time the little ones are up. Game drives move gently, with room enough for questions, for pointing, and for the particular joy of spotting an elephant before anyone else does.

This is what a Chobe family safari feels like: unhurried, together, and mindful of every traveller in our care, providing peace for parents, and a place to settle into without feeling the need to buffer.

Why did the elephant cross the Chobe River?

From around August, herds typically begin crossing more frequently, matriarchs leading the way, or co-ordinating trunk-to-tail links that keep everybody safe. A quick mudbath on the way out isn’t uncommon. Wise not to miss the opportunity, we think!

As localised rainfall fades and winter loosens its grip, Botswana begins to warm. The land slowly dries, drawing wildlife towards dependable water sources. For millennia, the Chobe River has been one of them, welcoming wildlife like an old friend.

As animals gather, the riverbanks bustle with resident wildlife and new arrivals. Territories are fiercely defended, and predators and prey are pushed into closer proximity. The thrill of the chase heightens, as interactions grow near-inevitable.

A season of great anticipation is upon us, and we look forward to experiencing the months ahead from our permanent place on the Chobe Riverfront.
