Meet the most well-behaved guest at the bar!

Taking centre stage in our upstairs bar is a formidable wooden pangolin, quietly keeping a watchful eye over guests as they relax after another unforgettable day on safari.

He's become one of the hotel's favourite residents, a popular photo stop, and a constant reminder of the remarkable animal that inspired everything we do.

As the sun dips below the horizon, the pool glows, the fire crackles to life, and the deck is set for another unforgettable evening under the African sky.

After a day spent photographing the incredible wildlife of Chobe, there's no better place to unwind than around our sunken fire pit. It's here that strangers become friends, favourite sightings are relived, photography tips are exchanged, and stories from safaris past are shared long into the evening.

This is more than dinner. It's the perfect ending to a perfect day in the bush.

Pull up a chair, pour your favourite drink, and let the magic of The Chobe continue long after the sun has set.

Happy 15th Birthday, Pangolin Photo Safaris! 🎉🥂

Today, the team at the Pangolin Chobe Hotel is celebrating an incredible milestone, 15 years of Pangolin Photo Safaris!

From humble beginnings to becoming one of Africa's leading wildlife photography experiences, it's been an extraordinary journey built on passion, friendship, and a shared love for the wild.

Congratulations to Guts and Toby on this remarkable achievement. To think it all started with a vision, plenty of determination, and yes...Guts standing outside Spar holding his little signs! Look how far that dream has come.

It is a true privilege to be part of the Pangolin family, and we're incredibly proud to celebrate this special day alongside you.

Here's to 15 unforgettable years, and to many, many more adventures, photographs, friendships, and memories still to come.

Celebrating 15 Years of Pangolin Photo Safaris!

Every great journey begins with a single moment.

For us, it began around a campfire in January 2011, when Gerhard "Guts" Swanepoel and Toby Jermyn met for the very first time. They left that evening not only infused with the scent of mopane smoke, but with the spark of an idea that would become Pangolin Photo Safaris.

They agreed there was only one place to bring that vision to life, and that was The Chobe River, in Botswana.

And just eight short months after that first meeting, the boat you see in this picture was launched.

Fifteen years on, we've welcomed thousands of photographers, explored some of Africa’s (and the world's) most spectacular wilderness areas, and created memories that will last a lifetime.

None of this would have been possible without the extraordinary people who have joined us along the way. From our dedicated management team, guides, photo hosts, skippers, hospitality team and office staff to the many talented individuals who continue to share our vision today. You are the heart of Pangolin Photo Safaris. Your passion, commitment and friendship have shaped who we are and made this journey possible. Thank you!

And to every guest who has travelled with us over the past 15 years, thank you for trusting us with your photo safari adventure. You have become part of the Pangolin family, and we are truly grateful for your support.

Here's to the next chapter, more unforgettable moments, and many more years of sharing Africa (and beyond) through the lens.

The Future of Wildlife Photography starts here!

A huge congratulations to Moses Lebitla, Reece Matthews, and Tamia Game Wright, who have officially been promoted to full-time Pangolin Photo Hosts. To mark this exciting milestone, each was presented with a brand-new Canon camera and lens as they embark on the next chapter of their journey.

These promotions reflect Pangolin Photo Safaris' ongoing commitment to investing in young Batswana talent and creating meaningful, long-term careers in wildlife photography and tourism.

"Seeing young Batswana grow from interns into fully-fledged Pangolin Photo Hosts is exactly why we do what we do. We're incredibly proud to give back in this way, and even prouder of what Moses, Reece and Tamia have achieved." Gerhard "Guts" Swanepoel, Co-Founder, Pangolin Photo Safaris
