A PUBLIC Statement from The Big Tree Valley Hotel
"To our friends, neighbors, valuable Customers and all who love The Big Tree natural area
We have seen the news that the public relaxation spot at The Big Tree has been closed by the Maun Police and Council due to maintenance and cleanliness concerns.
We want to make it absolutely clear: The Big Tree Valley Hotel is not responsible for the closure. We hold great respect for this natural space and the people who enjoy it.
In fact, we have been working to prevent this kind of situation for years. For the past two years, our Management has repeatedly submitted proposals to the Maun CounciL, volunteering to adopt, maintain, and manage the area for free (in partnership with Wenela Kgotla). Our offer included providing free cleaning services, toilet facilities, and security—all to ensure this landmark remains beautiful and accessible. This offer, unfortunately, was declined.
We have never, and will never, complain about you, our valued customers. We are here to serve you and appreciate your business.
We hope the matter is resolved quickly and that the community can soon enjoy the area again.
