A little preparation goes a long way when travelling through Botswana.

At Raintree Camp, we often welcome guests arriving with no itinerary, no route planning, and very little information about the areas they are exploring. While we are always happy to share advice and help where we can, planning a self-drive adventure properly before you arrive will make your journey far more enjoyable, safe, and stress-free.

We strongly encourage guests to do their own research ahead of time and, if needed, work with a trusted travel agent who understands Botswana and self-drive travel. From road conditions and park bookings to fuel stops and seasonal changes — preparation matters!

If you’re looking for assistance planning your Botswana self-drive adventure, we’re also happy to recommend trusted travel agents who can help you create a well-organised itinerary.

Neil has a new nick name “zip tie master” 🤣🤣

Zuzanna and her family stayed with us last week, and after attempting to get to Mababe , their car needed some TLC.

“Everything was absolutely wonderful. This place truly stands out from other campsites.

The host is incredibly kind and genuinely helpful - thanks to his ability to fix just about anything, we were able to safely continue our journey, which meant a lot to us. Thanks again - ziptie master :)

There is hot water, very clean showers, reliable WiFi (around 20 Mbps), electricity, and a great relaxation area by the pool.

It’s the perfect place to unwind and recharge after a long day. Highly recommended.

As the sun sets and the lanterns come alive, the giant raintree trees around camp stand tall like silent guardians — creating that magical, unmistakable bush atmosphere we love so much.

We stayed for 1 night at Raintree Camp in the bedded tents and we couldn’t rate this place more highly.

We booked only the day before after having a change of plan, and Kate was very accommodating. We have been sleeping in a roof tent and decided to treat ourselves for the night and we are so glad we did - the beds are full size, very comfortable and very clean.

The pool and bar area are also great and there is a small menu for food options.

Overall, this accommodation is fantastic value for money, and would recommend to anyone travelling to Moremi.

Same cottage. Two seasons. Completely different mood.

In October, the dry season strips everything back — golden grass, open views, the bush laid bare and a whole heap of sand!

Now it’s green season, and our self-catering cottage is quietly hidden again. Long grass, fresh leaves, birdsong everywhere. Nature reclaiming her space.

Nothing has changed…
Except everything.

This is our favorite time of year here.
