☀️ October is here… and the heat is ON! 🔥🌿

If you’re heading to Raintree in October, be prepared for proper Botswana heat!

The mopane trees are starting to look very bare, the bush is dry and dusty, and the temperatures can soar. October isn't for everyone — but if you want to experience the raw, dry, hot side of Botswana, this is it.

Come prepared, embrace the heat, and enjoy the bush in all its wild, dusty glory.

Or sit by the pool and enjoy a cold one!

If you’re planning a mokoro trip, Moremi day trip or any other activity during your stay, please pre-book it with us! and by this we mean more than 48 hours notice - no on the day you arrive.
We can’t guarantee availability for trips arranged when you arrive — and honestly, scrambling to find something last-minute isn’t much fun for anyone!

PLEASE Pre-book your activities. It makes life easier and we can get everything organised, so you can arrive, relax and enjoy your stay. ❤️

Can we ask road users to shorobe to please slow down when passing the team filling pot holes. The reason we can all travel at a constant speed on that road is because of them.
Please can we wait for them to finish before using it as a highway again
Safety first.
Every vehicle that passed us was speeding.. game drive vehicles full of clients for eg. Please be courteous.

Starting to fix the dam pot holes….. From shorobe to sakapane. Thank you to coastalhire for the use of their compactor. If your passing stop and say hi to the guys, pass them a cold coke if you have one!

A little preparation goes a long way when travelling through Botswana.

At Raintree Camp, we often welcome guests arriving with no itinerary, no route planning, and very little information about the areas they are exploring. While we are always happy to share advice and help where we can, planning a self-drive adventure properly before you arrive will make your journey far more enjoyable, safe, and stress-free.

We strongly encourage guests to do their own research ahead of time and, if needed, work with a trusted travel agent who understands Botswana and self-drive travel. From road conditions and park bookings to fuel stops and seasonal changes — preparation matters!
