There’s a reason we’re called Pel’s Island Camp🦉

Hidden amongst the ancient riverine trees of the Okavango lives one of Africa’s most elusive birds - the magnificent Pel’s Fishing Owl.

By day, it sits almost perfectly camouflaged in the canopy, often unnoticed even when it's right above you. As darkness falls, it comes alive, silently gliding over the water before snatching fish from the surface with remarkable precision.

For birders, spotting a Pel’s Fishing Owl is a lifelong dream. For us, it's a reminder of the wild beauty that surrounds our island every day.

Whether you're an avid birder or simply someone who appreciates nature at its most untouched, every moment in the Delta holds the possibility of something extraordinary.

Have you ever been lucky enough to see or hear a Pel’s Fishing Owl?
