🇧🇼 A month of celebration here in Botswana! 🇧🇼

September is extra special this year as we celebrate 60 years of Botswana’s Independence. From the beauty of our landscapes to the warmth of our people, there is so much to be proud of!

On 30 September, we honour six decades of Botho, resilience, growth, and a deep connection to this incredible land we call home.

At Kwando, we feel incredibly fortunate to share a little piece of Botswana with our guests every day.

We wouldn’t want to be anywhere else 🇧🇼

This is why we go off-road 🐾 To follow the story the bush is already telling.

Our G&Ts* read the signs, trust their instincts and know when it’s time to leave the beaten track behind.

A fresh print. A broken branch. An alarm call in the distance. Piece by piece, the story unfolds.

And suddenly, there it is! Wild. Close. Completely unforgettable.

When the Delta fills up, a Botswana safari takes on a slightly different shape...

A game drive can become a boat ride.
A water channel can become a highway.
A breakfast spot can become an elephant crossing.
And suddenly, Botswana feels even wilder!

The Delta is very much in its element this year, and our lucky guests are right in the middle of it, soaking up a truly extraordinary Okavango experience 🐘

4 Rivers Camp. A place to soak up the spirit of Botswana 🩵

Slow mornings at the campfire. Wild afternoons out exploring the Okavango Delta. Evenings around the dinner table, swapping stories about what the bush served up that day 🐘

Hosted by Batswana, connected to the land, and always ready for whatever the wild has in store.

Slow down. Soak it up. Stay curious!

I spy with my little eye, something beginning with 'C'...

From my July 2026 Botswana photo-safari, with Kwando Safaris and Biggestleaf Travel. The camp was Splash Camp, our guide/tracker where Twiimone and SB. A pack of wild dogs chased a male impala into a pool. A medium sized crocodile (its tail visible in front of the wild dog) here with its jaw clamped on the impala's back leg, tried to kill the impala for about 45 minutes. At one stage a hippo tried to intervene. It was an incredible sighting and fortunately no harm came to any wild dogs. In the end the wild dogs got their impala. I have described the entire interaction with lots more images on my website: https://www.grantatkinson.com/blog/okavango-wild-dogs-and-nile-crocodile-interaction
