The wedding is done and the honeymoon starts here. 🤍

Spend your mornings out in the bush watching elephants at the waterhole, your evenings with a drink in hand as the sun drops over the Chobe and the rest of the time with nothing on the agenda but each other.

That’s what a honeymoon in Botswana looks like.

We’d love to hear from the couples who’ve shared this with us. Drop your favourite memory in the comments below. 👇

June is here so that means the pools will start to shrink, the animals that spent summer scattered across the interior will begin moving toward the river and the bush will open up and game viewing will shift up a gear.

Tips has been with us for almost 10 years. He’s seen a lot of sunsets.
This one stopped him anyway.

A young male, unhurried, watching the light go down like he had nowhere else to be.

That’s the beauty about this part of the world. The bush doesn’t perform for you. It just goes about its business and occasionally lets you in.

The Chobe floodplains look different from a mokoro.

Lower. Wider. More alive somehow. The guide poles in silence, the reeds part and everything you were thinking about before you got in the boat just disappears.

This is what we came here for.

The Family Cottage. 🤍

Morning coffee while something moves in the long grass below. Sundowners while the kids argue about whether that was a kudu or a waterbuck. The deck becomes your living room from day one.☀️

Two bathrooms so nobody argues over the shower. A mezzanine sleeping loft the kids will immediately claim as their own.

Comfortable enough that you actually unwind. Wild enough that you never forget where you are.

This is what a family safari actually looks like.🐾

You don’t just see Africa from up here. You feel it.

Nobody warns you about that part. They tell you about the elephants and the sunsets and the food. But nobody tells you that standing on a deck above the Chobe River will make everything else feel very far away and very small.

In the best possible way.

Somewhere between your first game drive and your last sundowner, something quietly changes in you. 🤍

This is what you come for. No script. No filter.

Just Africa doing what Africa does. 🇧🇼

Chobe National Park holds the largest concentration of African elephants on earth, with estimates putting the population at over 130,000.

As the dry season takes hold and inland water sources slowly disappear, these herds converge on the river in numbers that are genuinely hard to process when you’re sitting in a game vehicle watching them arrive.

The crossings do something to you. A breeding herd moves into the water with the calves tucked in the middle, trunks raised, the matriarch reading the current and making the call. It takes about five minutes. You won’t say a word for most of it.

May is when this really begins. The herds are building. The river is pulling them in.

Previous guests, what do you remember about your first elephant crossing on the Chobe? Drop it in the comments. 🐘
