al park provides a serene setting for your stay, and a perfect base from which to explore the less crowded western end of the park. It is a perfect stop over for 4x4 enthusiasts wishing to visit Linyanti and Savuti or to spend a night on your way to the Caprivi Strip in Namibia. Your hosts are long term residents in the area and will be happy to offer you advice and friendly assistance during your stay with us.

*Update: Re-opened today Thursday, 09 April 2026

Notice: the Shell filling station in Muchenje Village (Chobe West) is currently closed today (Wed, 01 April 2026) due to a lightning strike to the pump electrical system last night. All travellers coming from either Kasane or Maun please ensure you have enough fuel to get to your destination without relying on this fuel station. The owners of the filling station are currently working on fixing the problem but it might take a day or 2 before normal business resumes.
I will update daily and let everyone know as soon as the filling station is up and running again.

Yay!! Our favourite day of the year - "Flood Day" is finally here!

Whilst the words flood and flooding are usually associated with the negative - the word "flood" for us here at Muchenje Campsite and Cottages on the banks of the Chobe River floodplains means Happiness.

Copper Sunbird - First seen this week (04 November 2023) - this uncommon resident is an eagerly awaited summer visitor to Muchenje Campsite and Cottages.
