𝐒𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐢 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐤𝐰𝐞 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝟓𝟎𝟎 𝐌𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐉𝐨𝐛𝐬 𝐚𝐬 𝐈𝐭 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐃𝐢𝐤𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐧𝐠

The Selebi Phikwe Citrus Project is set to create 500 additional jobs as it expands operations to the Dikgathong area through a P500 million investment. The new phase will involve developing more orchards, packhouses, and processing facilities to boost production capacity and meet rising global demand for Botswana-grown citrus.

The project has already invested P447 million, created 405 jobs, and opened international markets for local produce in the EU, UK, Russia, Canada, and UAE. With the expansion, it now targets new export destinations including China, South Korea, India, and the USA.

CEO Pieter Scholtz said the initiative is not only about increasing exports but also empowering communities. “We have successfully opened up export markets for Botswana fruit, paving the way for other citrus producers and promoting inclusive growth,” he said.

The expansion reinforces Selebi Phikwe’s transformation into an agricultural hub and supports Botswana’s broader goal of economic diversification through value-added agribusiness.
