The holidays have a way of reminding us what matters most: time together, shared experiences, and moments that linger long after the trip ends. This past holiday season at Casa Al Mar, we were fortunate to welcome families and groups who chose to spend that meaningful time with us here on St. George’s Caye.
What stood out most wasn’t just the celebrations themselves, but the way guests described their experience — from grandparents to young children, first-time Belize visitors to seasoned travelers. Many spoke about how quickly the villa felt like home. As one guest shared, “This place is a dream come true… There is plenty of room to spread out but come together as a family.”

That balance — space to relax and space to reconnect — came up again and again. Families told us how much they appreciated being able to settle into an easy rhythm, where days unfolded naturally between adventure and rest.

“Another great option is the lightly populated St George’s Caye, 7 miles south of Belize City. On September 10, 1798, British colonizers fought off invading Spaniards in the Battle of St George’s Caye, now celebrated as a national public holiday. Boat tours don’t visit here but you can stay at the luxurious St George’s Caye Resort or the more low-key six-bedroom Casa Almar Belize that sleeps eight to 16 guests. Without regular tours, dive boats or visiting cruise-ship passengers, St George’s feels like a private island for snorkeling or kayaking, but far humbler.” Carolee Chanona Lonely Planet

Many visitors never set foot in this region beyond the international airport, but there’s enough to see and do in and around the city to easily fill a week.

With one foot in Central America and the other in the Caribbean, Belize offers the best of both worlds when it comes to vacations. Depending on your preferences, however, you may find yourself gravitating to different parts of the country more. While the offshore islands—called cayes—are perfect for water lovers, divers, and professional beachcombers, the mainland boasts a healthy blend of culture and adventure. Not sure which kind of Belize vacation is right for you? Here’s a quick guide to choosing the perfect destination.
A Belize Rainforest Vacation

Options for vacationing on the Belizean mainland are diverse, making it ideal for travelers who love variety and discovery. Craving thrills? Zipline through the rainforest canopy, explore mysterious cave systems, or rappel down jungle waterfalls.

More of a culture buff? Visit ancient Maya cities like Xunantunich, tour local villages, or sample Belizean cuisine at a roadside stall or an elegant restaurant.

From the colorful marine life and pristine beaches of the reef to the majestic wildlife and dense jungles of the rainforest, every corner of Belize holds a new adventure waiting to be discovered.

But in Belize, with its 180 miles of Caribbean coastline, “winter blues” can take on a whole different meaning. Here, set your sights on the azures and turquoises of the sea during the end-of-year months for a refreshing escape from winter woes. Embrace the colors of the Caribbean with a tropical stay on a quiet and idyllic island like St. George’s Caye, where one all-inclusive vacation rental is serving up healing relaxation with a side of adventure. This is your sign to book a group trip to Casa Al Mar, Belize.

Belize Weather in Fall

This is part of Belize’s “green season,” when short afternoon rains refresh the landscape and keep the rainforest and cayes lush and vibrant. Travelers can expect plenty of sunny mornings and evenings, ideal for snorkeling, diving, and fishing trips.
