Foresters Lodge is in the Cayo district which is called the heart of Belize where all the fruits and vegetables are grown. OMG the fruits, mango, bananas, papaya and the sweetest pineapple you will ever taste. On saturdays the market in San Ignacio is thronging with the best of everything including street food. ystems to choose from, rivers, we have a quaint little zoo with native animals, zip lining, and much more accessible from here. The mennonite community is 6 miles down the road. Great ice cream and get to know the history of them migrating to Belize. This district is amazing, we have belize/ macal river if you are into kayaking and just taking in the flora and fauna while floating down the river. You might even want to stay forever! Eating out is pretty cheap and the local food is good, other more upmarket restaurants are also around at reasonable prices. Cayo is the best base for exploring Maya sites, Caracol, Xunantunich, Cahal Pech, Actun Tunichil Muknal ( ATM)
Travellers wanting to visit Guatemalas Tikal ruins will find day trips from kayo the easiest option. The cost for that tour is 145.00 USD, it includes your lunch, entrance fee and guide. Start ay 7am and back at 4pm.
