A great location from where one can visit all the inland sites, the Cockscomb basin Jaguar sanctuary that covers 130 000 acres of tropical jungle, Cristal clear rivers, streams and waterfalls where you can swim and relax on the rocky formations. The Mayflower reserve is also very close by where you can study abundant wild life and stunning vegetation and see the highest waterfall in the country known as Antelope falls. Just beyond Mayflower reserve there is the longest Zip line in Belize that has 8 white knuckle lines one of which is half a mile long and you can hit 40 mph…

There is a vast network of lagoons which are the home for crocodiles, iguanas and a wide variety of birds and wildlife in general. There is a lookout tower where one can view the sea on one side and the mountains on the other. 1 and 2 person kayaks or canoes are available to hire from various locations to take in to the lagoon on the north side or you can also hire canoes and kayaks from Palmento Grove which is 10mins walk north on the North side of Hopkins Where they have a canal that leads into the lagoon. You can take a boat out along the river for a night time river trip with a guide and experience the phosphorescent plankton in the wake of the boat and the glowing eyes of the crocodiles in the dark. The trip lasts about 3 hours and your guide will show you the amazing wild life along the banks of Sittee river and lagoons. 📍 BELIZE TRANSIT HACK: BZcity bus terminal to the Water Taxi 🛑

If you are traveling from the interior to the Cayes, you are going to land at the Bus Terminal in Belize City. When you get off the bus, you will be swarmed by guys trying to grab your bags, pull you into a taxi, or sell you "official ferry tickets".
Do this instead:
1️⃣ Hold on tight to your gear. Look the drivers in the eye, say a firm "I'm good, thanks," and keep moving. The cab ride is BZ$10, but if you want the absolute cheapest route, you use your legs. It’s a flat, 15-minute walk.
2️⃣ The Walk (and the Food Hack): Exit the terminal, hang a left until you cross the main canal bridge, and immediately turn right down Orange Street. It’s loud, packed, and busting with local life—but more importantly, this is where you stock up. The islands are expensive, so use the local bakeries, fruit stalls, and grocery shops along Orange Street to pack your bag with cheap snacks, fresh fruit, and water before you get on the boat.
3️⃣ Stay sharp: Walk like you know exactly where you’re going. Follow Orange Street all the way to the end, cross the bridge by the banks, and you’ll be at the water taxi terminals on North Front Street.
4️⃣ The Ultimate Trap: Guys on bikes or hanging out on the sidewalk outside the terminal will tell you the inside line is closed or try to sell you tickets right there. They are middlemen collecting a street hustle commission. Walk straight past them, go through the glass doors, and buy your ticket directly from the official counter window inside.
