Our family of five spent a full week on Bird Island and recommend it for anyone seeking both adventure and serenity. Our days were spent relaxing in the ample hammocks, reading, and playing games. When we were ready for activity, some of the best snorkeling in the world is right off your doorstep - we saw nurse sharks, rays, and tropical fish of all variety. My kids really enjoyed the SUPs. I brought my fly rod and chased permit, which frequent the flats around the island (like most visitors, I struck out!). We had much more luck wade fishing with frozen sardines.
We hired Elaine to prepare meals and also did two fishing/snorkeling excursions with Thurman. While Fred, the owner, is an amazing and friendly host, you really get an entire team of folks who are ready to make your stay comfortable and memorable.
