What a wonderful year for sea turtles in San Pedro!

We love seeing our beautiful island continue to be an important place for these incredible creatures 🐢

Here’s to protecting our shores and giving future generations of sea turtles a safe place to return.

Hol Chan Marine Reserve reported 75 sea turtle nests along San Pedro’s beaches in an October 5th update following surveys by its biologists.

Happy St. George’s Caye Day!

On September 10, 1798, one of the most important battles in Belizean history took place.

Local settlers known as the Baymen, along with buccaneers and enslaved people, joined together to defend their settlement against a Spanish naval invasion.

After several skirmishes beginning on September 3, the final and decisive engagement took place on September 10. Against the odds, the Baymen successfully repelled the Spanish fleet, marking Spain’s final attempt to take control of the territory.

Today, September 10 is celebrated as St. George’s Caye Day, honoring the courage, determination, and unity that helped shape the history of Belize.
