We're delighted to announce the Grand Baymen gym is getting a major upgrade!

Starting August 21, the gym will temporarily close as we begin a full renovation, bringing in new equipment and creating a completely refreshed workout space.

And there’s something bigger coming with it.

When the doors reopen, the gym will become part of the new Grand Baymen Athletic & Leisure Club, bringing fitness, pool access and tennis/pickleball together in a new membership experience.

We’ll share the reopening date as soon as it’s confirmed. In the meantime, current members will continue to have complimentary access to the pool and courts during the closure.

She has plans. Dad has clearly been informed. There's a determination in that walk toward the pool that suggests the rest of the morning has already been decided.

One of the nice things about staying at Grand Baymen is that a pool day doesn’t require much planning. You can spend a few hours here, head out to explore San Pedro when everyone’s ready, and come back for another swim if the first one wasn’t enough.

Judging by this photo, we’re not convinced one will be enough.

No traffic lights. Yep, you read that right. 🚦👀

Ambergris Caye does getting around a little differently. You’ll see plenty of golf carts and bicycles making their way through San Pedro, but you won’t find a single traffic light on the island.

Instead, traffic is managed with stop signs, speed bumps and right-of-way rules at intersections, so getting around still comes with rules of the road. It’s one of those little differences you may not think about before visiting, then notice once you’re here. And before long, navigating the streets starts to feel like part of getting to know the island itself.

From Grand Baymen, San Pedro and the rest of Ambergris Caye are yours to explore. Just don’t wait around for the light to turn green. 😉🌴

Our one tip for your first trip to Ambergris Caye? Don’t treat San Pedro like a checklist.

Yes, go snorkeling. See the reef. Make it to Secret Beach. Book the excursion you’ve been looking forward to.

But leave yourself enough time to wander into a restaurant you hadn’t researched, take the long way back, stop because you heard music somewhere, or change the plan completely because somebody you met that morning gave you a better idea.

Knowing what you want to see is useful. Getting a little sidetracked is part of the fun.

And when you’re ready to call it a day, Grand Baymen will be here waiting for you 🌴

It’s 5 PM at Grand Baymen. What’s the move? 🌴

You’ve been out exploring Ambergris Caye most of the day. You’re showered, changed, and technically ready for the evening.

But then you walk past the pool.

Now there’s a decision to make.

Head into San Pedro, find somewhere good for dinner, and see where the evening takes you?

Or put those plans on hold, grab something cold, and squeeze one more hour out of the pool?

Both are very easy decisions to defend. 😎

That’s one of the nice things about staying at Grand Baymen. You’re close enough to San Pedro to head out when you feel like it, with a pretty convincing reason to stick around when you don’t.

Dinner can wait another hour, right?

Meet the Baird’s tapir, Belize’s national animal and the largest native land mammal in Central America.

In Belize, you’ll often hear it called the “mountain cow,” although it’s more closely related to horses and rhinos than to cows. And that distinctive little snout? It’s flexible and helps the tapir grab leaves, fruit and other vegetation.

Baird’s tapirs live in the forests and wetlands of Belize, where protecting their habitat is essential to their survival.

The beaches may get most of the postcards, but Belize has plenty of surprises waiting beyond the Caribbean coast.

And yes, we think the mountain cow is pretty adorable.

Explore all day. Come back here.

Snorkel the reef. Wander around San Pedro. Head up the coast. Spend the afternoon discovering a part of Ambergris Caye you haven’t seen yet.

Then come back, drop your things in the room, and decide if you’ve got one more swim in you.

At Grand Baymen, we like being the place you head out from in the morning and look forward to returning to at the end of the day.

Ever wondered why the water around Ambergris Caye can look like this?

That brilliant turquoise isn't just down to sunshine and a good camera.

Ambergris Caye sits alongside the Belize Barrier Reef, which helps shelter the island's Caribbean coast from powerful ocean swells. Add shallow water, white sand and seagrass areas, and sunlight can create those incredible shades of blue and turquoise you see around the island.

And the reef responsible for so much of this scenery isn't far away. From Ambergris Caye, some of Belize's most famous snorkeling and diving experiences are just a boat ride away.
