Pull up a chair in San Pedro and you might find yourself sitting a few feet from the water, watching the boats come and go while you enjoy a cold drink.

We love these little waterfront spots around Ambergris Caye. No elaborate setup required. Just a table by the sea and a very good reason to stay for another round.

A special day at Grand Baymen, with some very special guests 💙

This past Saturday, we had the pleasure of welcoming children from Hope Haven Children's Home for a fun-filled day at our pool.

Hope Haven does extraordinary work in Belize, providing vulnerable children with a safe, caring environment where they can find protection and opportunities for a brighter future.

We wanted to recognize the wonderful staff and volunteers who accompanied the children. These are the people who help make Hope Haven's mission possible, dedicating their time and care to children who need it most.

We're grateful we could share a little happiness with them this weekend, and we're proud to shine a light on an organization doing such important work in Belize.

The water taxi is one of the most popular ways to travel between Belize City and Ambergris Caye, with multiple departures throughout the day. The ride to San Pedro takes around 90 minutes, which means your island trip starts well before you step onto the dock.

One useful tip for your first visit: check the current schedule before you travel, especially if you’re coordinating the boat with an international flight. Then find a seat, keep your camera handy and enjoy the ride.

Your Friday plans could use a fishing rod.

Ambergris Caye is well known for its flats, where anglers head into shallow water in search of some of Belize’s most sought-after catches.

And you don’t need to be the person who plans an entire vacation around fishing to enjoy giving it a try. There’s a lot to be said for getting out on the water, learning from a local guide and seeing another side of the island while you’re at it.

The “Gardens” in Grand Baymen Gardens earns its place in the name.

All that greenery does more than make a pretty backdrop. The palms create pockets of shade around the property, including a few very tempting spots to settle into a lounger when the Belize sun is doing its thing.

It’s one of our favorite parts of the grounds: finding a cool corner under the leaves and staying there until you’re ready to move again.

Ambergris Caye has never been shy about color!

Turquoise walls, red shutters, Caribbean water right outside the door. Even an ordinary walk around San Pedro has a way of giving you plenty to look at.

Then a boat pulls up in the background and the whole scene feels very Belize.

No matter how many times we see them, we're still not used to views this good.

One of the things we love about Belize is the welcome. You see it in places like this, where a hand-painted sign says what the country has a lovely way of making you feel: come as you are.
