April 6th, 2021 ...
The Declaration of Arbroath (Latin: Declaratio Arbroathis; Scots: Declaration o Aiberbrothock; Scottish Gaelic: Tiomnadh Bhruis) is the name usually given to a letter, dated 6 April 1320 at Arbroath, written by Scottish barons and addressed to Pope John XXII. It constituted King Robert I's response to his excommunication for disobeying the pope's demand in 1317 for a truce in the First War of Scottish Independence. The letter asserted the antiquity of the independence of the Kingdom of Scotland, denouncing English attempts to subjugate it. 💙

A message from Clan Chief, Joan McAulay,

It is with sorrow that I share with you the sad news that Lifetime President Donald MacAulay passed away this morning. He was a kind, caring and charismatic man who generously shared his love of Clan MacAulay and contributed greatly to its success.

Chief Emeritus Hector, upon notifying me today, stated the indisputable … “Donald served the clan with distinction.”

Because of the current pandemic there will not be a funeral service. A celebration of his life will take place later this year.

I have extended our condolences to his lovely wife Eileen and family. Please take a moment, in whatever way you feel most appropriate, to give thanks for the life of a great man, Donald MacAulay. He will be deeply missed.

Just before we sold our family home and purchased a condo in Old Pickering Village (2016), I toyed with the idea of crafting a Nordic hammer in honour of 'Olaf/Aulay The Black - Lord of The Isles', to many the beginnings of Clan MacAulay in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland ... However, all I achieved was a template which ended up in the hands of my son Clement, who among other thing's was an extraordinary skateboarder and enjoys his Scotch like his Father.

Fast forward to Christmas 2019 .... unbeknownst to me he built a hammer, modelled after my template, all from Beautiful woods such as African Wenge, and signed it with his own laminated skateboards ... I of course was, and still am overwhelmed by this amazing gift 🎁 It's Stunning ... Thank You again Clement. ... Bud MacAulay Lush
