HAPPY CANADA DAY!
It's July 1st. and time to celebrate the best country in the world; our home. Here at the boat, we express our gratitude to all our guests both past and future and hope that everyone has a wonderful day of fun, family and reflection. Our Mermaid at the boat is "on board" with the holiday and is looking forward to welcoming guests on any day during the summer season. To keep up our strength we decided to have a tasty breakfast of fresh, local strawberries on a toasted bagel. So good and sooo Nova Scotian, Canadian.
We are hosting an OPEN HOUSE (boat) on Aug. 3. Stop by if you can to see what the Lobster Boat Inn is all about.

Eureka! The first raised tent pad is new and finally finished. It sits within easy walking distance of the Boat and head #2. It measures 14'x12', with drainage slots so you won't get flooded out in a rainstorm.
The pad is designed to accommodate a large tent to handle overflow of visitors to the boat. It's atypical and rare nature limits the Inn to housing only hold 5 visitors per night. This tent pad provides the opportunity for large families or groups of friends to make a booking for up to 10 instead of having to check into an expensive motel.
The group can also share the variety of sleeping either in the Glamping tent or in the main boat. You know what 'they' say; "Variety is the spice of life". And like Lorraine The Lobster reminds everybody; "If you want to secure your best dates for a stay: Get CRACKING and book early." ca
American visitors should also keep this in mind. We like most of you and if you visit Nova Scotia you have the benefit of our discounted dollar. The single night price is just $100 Canadian. That in itself is an unbelievably good price for up to 5 visitors from Canada. ($20/ person)
The cost to American visitors is just $70 for 5 visitors due to the exchange rate. What are you waiting for America? Come to The Lobster Boat Inn and stay for almost nothing!!! And the way things are going south of the "imaginary border" you just might want to stay for a long time.

A fisherman's plans are written in the sand at low tide.

But we here at the LBI don't have a low tide. No water - no tide! We have a low season called winter. Our sand writing appears only in my mind which is always scratching out new ideas; attractions and activities to offer to engage, interest and excite our guests.
Here are a few of our glamping - glyphics written in our brain this cold February.

1. Traditionally bnbs offer breakfast. But we don't have a standard kitchen so we nix a provided meal. Instead we do offer a FREE restaurant breakfast to anyone celebrating their birthday while staying at the Inn.( $10 value). Non birthday people still get to cook their own breakfast if they choose using the free eggs provided by our free range chickens.
2. We are hooking up with a local lobster fisherman willing to take your party on a real lobster fishing boat (email - thelobsterboatantigonish.com for details. There is an additional charge for this extra.)
3. At least three new raised tent platforms will be available for campers @$45 /night (4 campers. $15 for each additional camper/night)
4. a lobster cook/boil. (1 or 2 pound - priced at market rate ordered upon check in at the Inn)

There is good news and bad news. First the good. The Lobster Boat Inn now has a new Civic Address. It is 2041 Glen Rd. Antigonish County B2G2L3 Nova Scotia.
With this we will now be able to register the LBI with the short term rental people with the province.

Now for the bad news. America's genius almighty, second in command after E. Musk, has stumbled backward into the golf trap. He has imposed a 25% tariff on all goods entering Canada from the States. Unprovoked Canada, in response, has slapped Trump back with equal tariffs agains the US. This amounts to billions of dollars of costs which will be felt by Canadian and American citizens alike. Canada did not want this unwarranted abuse, especially from what we thought was a friend. Those illusions have now gone America has broken the faith. She is no friend of ours.
Trump has been taking lessons from his buddy Putin. Putin is trying to invade and conquer Ukraine as we know. If he can try to do that then Trump wants to achieve the same. Bigger ego - Bigger conquest. We believe what you say Donald. These tariffs are an effort to drive Canada to her knees at the heel of MAGA and annex Canada as the 51st State. It ain't going to happen! He is delusional along with his MAGA minions.
We will fight him from sea, to sea, to sea. From the trees, caves and tunnels under the snow, mountain tops, towns, villages and cities. Our people will resist from everywhere if necessary. We will take help from our real friends around the world and use the most advanced gorilla fighting techniques. Vietnam beat America in the 60s and 70s. Canadians will also fight to the death if required. American businesses will be destroyed here on Canadian soil which will cost America billions and billions of $. Talks are now being undertaken to create a Canadian National Guard which will operate much like the Israeli Army which involves the training of their entire population to secure their land. That is their iron dome. Construction of our iron dome begins now with a new Canadian mindset to resist and protect.
The LBI is also joining in to fight this American aggression. As of today, we are announcing a 100% tariff on the cost of our daily overnight rate. This will apply to Americans only. It is with a heavy heart that we are forced to initiate these measures. We understand that this will hurt our bottom line but Trump aggression can not be left unchecked. Honour and truth trumps betrayal and American expansionism. We welcome all guests from all other countries to join us this season at the Boat to demonstrate Canadian solidarity. The world doesn't revolve around the TRUMP's-America exclusively.
See you in the Spring and Summer of this year best regards. Let's "Stick it to the man".

Did you...
Know that in the American Revolution the British captured and sank an American ship in a Nova Scotia cove and perhaps gold is buried at the beach there? Some say they've seen this phantom, ghost ship as they play on the beach.
There is an old secret, river swimming pool within an easy 20 min drive of the LBI. There you can jump from a high rock into a crystal clear, 20 ft. deep, cold river pond and then walk the river to the ocean?
Know that ildlife on Glen Road from Bald Eagles, rabbits, and partridge is often observed at the Inn?
Come see sights like nowhere else when you visit.

AN UN-WELCOMED FAMILY MEMBER
Have you noticed that at this time of year there is an abundance of spiders? These 8 legged ARACHNID creatures are busy getting ready for winter, laying eggs and scouting out a protected place to hunker down for when the snow falls. And yes Glampers, you may see a spider or two at the LBI but don't freak out! It is fitting that a spider, which is an insect can be found at the Lobster Boat because Lobsters are actually closely related to insects!
It's hard to believe that these beady-eyed, clawed marine animals could be closely related to spiders, but they are! Lobsters and spiders are in the same family. Lobsters, like insects, belong to the invertebrate Phylum Arthropoda. They have an exoskeleton, no backbone and jointed legs. Lobsters in fact are sometimes referred to as the bugs or spiders of the sea.
So if you happen to see the odd spider while visiting...relax. She is just doing her job of catching mosquitos or flys. Being part of the same family she probably thinks it her responsibility to keep things tidy. If you find one, just show her the door. As a guest, you are the boss and sometimes visiting family members have to be kicked out! This holds true for spiders and Mothers in Law.

I discovered from Paul, a true lobster fisherman with his own licence and boat, that the captain of a lobster boat is called the Skipper not the Captain. So, when you now book your stay through Hipcamp or Airbnb you will not be messaging "Host Captain Dave", but instead "Host Skipper Dave".
We will be closing for the season by mid October but look forward to offering a new amenity for the 2025 season: THE LOBSTER BOAT BOIL.
We will supply everything needed to cook: fresh, fisherman supplied, live lobsters .This includes the pot, water, salt, burner, propane, cutlery, butter, and plates, for a nominal charge to be announced.
Guests interested in this service will preorder upon booking SO THAT EVERYTHING IS SET FOR YOUR ARRIVAL. The charge will be contingent on the going market price at the time and the number of lobsters ordered. This will be a separate from and in addition to your accommodation costs and paid directly to your host prior to making arrangements and placing your order. If, for whatever reason the guest decides to cancel the event prior to placing an order, they will receive a full refund.
Nova Scotia is the Lobster capital of the world so when here at the Lobster Boat why wouldn't you want to experience your own Lobster Boat Boil? Sounds like CRACKING GOOD TIME TO ME.
