Our hearts are heavy as we think of all those affected by the devastating tornadoes in Illinois, Missouri, Kentucky, and Tennessee. We’ve come to know many wonderful guests from these areas over the years, and it’s heartbreaking to hear how badly some of them have been impacted.

Please know that our thoughts are with you during this incredibly difficult time. We’re sending love, strength, and hope as your communities begin to recover and rebuild.

On the night of May 16, 2025, a severe tornado outbreak struck parts of the Midwest and Southeast United States, including Missouri, Kentucky, and Tennessee. The storms resulted in at least 42 fatalities, with significant damage reported in these states. In Missouri, the St. Louis area experienced deadly tornadoes, while in Kentucky, cities like London and Somerset were hard-hit. Tennessee also faced severe weather conditions during this outbreak .

This is information from our local MNR
Re: forest fires in area
Fort Frances received 19.1 mm of rain last night, South end of the fire (close to you) received 6mm and Atikokan received 3.4mm. Fort Frances 4 fire is now measuring approximately 3,593 hectares in size.
There are 8 FireRanger crews and 2 fire engines assigned to the fire with suppression efforts focussed on the south end of the fire and values protection on the north end. There are currently 3 helicopters assigned to Fort Frances 4. Additional personnel and aircraft resources will be assigned to the fire over the next several days. Helicopter bucketing operations will be ongoing through the day. It is still dry out there, but the cool weather coming should help the crews get and additional handle on the fire this weekend.
