As Canada Day approaches many are preparing to take part in the CD parade with floats and animals. Hopefully there will be many great photos to commemorate the festivities now that people are back out on the streets again. Yes this really is our downtown. NH is located at 1st and Discovery so goes right by my front porch.

After forest fires and tinder dry conditions we finally got rain. We have been under a rain alert for days with down low cloud cover. Today it cleared off revealing new snow on the mountains across Atlin Lake. Believe me we are not complaining because there is so much flooding in northern BC and the Yukon. Thank you Karyn for your very revealing photo and Discover Atlin CM for another perspective.

Christian Bucher offers us a different perspective of beautiful Atlin Lake so recently calm. We survived 3 potentially serious forest fires in under 2 weeks but finally got much needed rain. Hard work by Atlin Fire Dept. the TRTFN Fire Departments, Highways, Yukon and BC Fire Service, all helicopters on deck and anyone that could offer support. Thank you Christian for another breath taking photo.

Sending out huge RAVES to the Atlin Fire Dept, Horizon Helicopters, Discovery Helicopters and Whitehorse Fire Service for their amazing response to a forest fire on Spruce Creek. As of this post the fire seems to be out. Please be super careful this summer. It is extremely dry out there!
This is our second fire in a week and, although I haven't heard the actual cause of this one yet, my guess is human negligence.
