North River starts in the highlands as a small stream, and begins to open up behind the lodge and gets much wider as it empties into St Ann’s Harbour where it meets the salty water…☀️🏞️
Did you know? 🤔🌍
There are 16 main watersheds in the park. Rivers begin as small streams on the high plateau, flow through deep valleys, and then spread out before reaching the ocean. Many of these rivers follow ancient fault lines that were shaped by glaciers over 10,000 years ago.
Fresh water is one of the most important resources in the park. It supports fish, amphibians, aquatic plants, and insects. It plays a vital role in the health of our oceans, too! 🐟🐸🌿🦋
Protecting fresh water means protecting the ocean.
