SUP Baddeck

SUP Baddeck Paddle board rentals. SUP Baddeck began as a project from the Uhma Institute of Technology. Colin MacInnis, the founder, was learning how to build websites.

As a complete project to use his newly acquired skills, Colin created supbaddeck.ca. After the website launched, it was apparent there was demand for the service. That's when the Inverary Inn Resort agreed to partner with SUP Baddeck. SUP Baddeck was later absorbed into the Inverary Inn Resort Adventure Centre where it still remains a top-tier experience for travellers and visitors of Baddeck, Nova Scotia.

Now accepting responses for our interest survey.

Happy Monday everyone! As per our last post, here's an interest survey for our new possible location in downtown Sydney (paddleboard and kayak rentals, lessons, and tours).

The survey will conclude Friday, October 11th. It'd mean the world to us if you participate and share word of our survey with your friends/network.

Thank you!

As fellow residents of Cape Breton, we believe your input is critical to the future direction and decision-making of our small, seasonal business. Through the operation of SUP Baddeck, we believe there may be demand to open another location on Sydney's waterfront. By completing this 10 minute survey...

Hi everyone, we have some news to share and didn't know how to approach this until now.

SUP Baddeck originally started as a school project for a technology program in Sydney called UIT Startup Immersion. After completing a website project for an imaginary business, plans came together to actually run the business. SUP Baddeck was accepted with open arms by the Cape Breton community (thank you so much).

The business was later passed onto James Anderson (Jimmy the Boat Boy) who continued operating SUP Baddeck in partnership with the Inverary Inn; engaging with the community, answering questions, and booking rentals.

James truly carried the spirit of Baddeck. He was an avid sailor, kind individual, and expressed warmth to visitors from all walks of life.

James passed away in December of 2018.

James left a really big impact on so many people. Any one who visited SUP Baddeck might remember James as the older gentleman who was helpful, funny, and genuine to every customer. If you've ever kayaked at the Inverary Inn, chances are Jim gave you a push onto the water.

James is deeply missed each and every day.

To be honest, between James being gone and SUP Baddeck left on its own, we didn't know how to proceed. We considered options for what to do, but the summer crept in on us too soon. We now look to operations, the community, and how to expand/develop for the coming 2020 season.

Early into the work week, we will be releasing and advertising a survey to gather interest and feedback for a new possible location in the downtown core of Sydney (at the Royal Cape Breton Yacht Club marina).

When that survey is launched, we hope you will participate and give us your honest feedback and input for the considered expansion.

Thank you for reading our message. Please join us in continuing to send thoughts and prayers to Jim's wife, Mona Anderson, and the family.

Thank you,

Colin MacInnis
