Urgent Fire Weather Update
Valid: Monday, April 27, 2026 | 13:55 ADT
Current Status: Province-Wide Restriction
As we approach the 14:00 (2 PM) daily update from the Department of Natural Resources, the Daily Burn Notice Viewer remains under a full provincial restriction. The Yellow Horizontal Hatch covers all 15 counties.
Current Status: Restricted (8 PM to 8 AM Only)
Active Restriction: Outdoor burning is currently PROHIBITED across New Brunswick. Permissions do not open until 20:00 (8:00 PM) tonight.
Meteorological Analysis at 13:55 ADT
We are currently in the "peak burn" window of the day. The atmospheric profile is particularly volatile right now:
Relative Humidity (RH): RH values have bottomed out near 40% across the Saint John River Valley. This creates a "flash-dry" effect on fine fuels (dead grass/cured needles).
Thermal Profile: Temperatures are currently holding steady at 17°C. With the sun at its highest point, the solar radiation is directly baking the forest floor, a classic "Spring Dip" scenario before leaf-out.
Wind Dynamics: We are seeing sustained southeasterly winds at 13 km/h (8 mph). While these aren't gale-force, in these bone-dry conditions, even a light breeze provides enough oxygen to turn a small spark into a rapid surface fire.
Precipitation Outlook: The radar is clear. We have a 0% chance of rain for the remainder of the afternoon.
Technical Summary & Safety
The Fine Fuel Moisture Code (FFMC) is currently climbing. This index measures the ease of ignition and the potential for fire spread in surface litter. Because the moisture content is so low, ignition probability is at its highest point of the day.
Operational Directive: Please hold off on all brush burning or spring cleanup fires. The province remains under a mandatory "wait" until 8:00 PM. As the boundary layer stabilizes after sunset and humidity recovers, the risk profile will drop significantly.
Summary: All of New Brunswick is currently Yellow. Do not ignite until 8:00 PM. We will continue to monitor the 14:00 update for any further changes.
