This one grew. Birken Lakeside Resort has been on the shores of Gates Lake since 1906 — and in that time, the lake hasn't changed, the cabins have kept their personalities, and the woodsmoke still hits you before you even get out of the car. We've got seven cabins (each one different, none of them boring), a lakeside grille open on weekends, a general store stocked with things you didn't know you
