Today, on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we pause to honour Survivors of residential schools, the children who never returned home, their families, and Indigenous communities across Ktaqmkuk and throughout Canada.

At Fallsview Park, we are grateful to live, work, gather, and welcome visitors on lands that Indigenous Peoples have cared for and maintained relationships with since time immemorial.

Truth and reconciliation require us to keep learning, listening to Indigenous voices, understanding the history and ongoing impacts of residential schools, and supporting Indigenous-led work in our communities.

Today, and throughout the year, we encourage our community to take time to learn, reflect, and listen. One place to begin is with the story of Phyllis Webstad, whose experience inspired Orange Shirt Day:
