Dick Proenneke’s cabin interior is a 12-foot by 16-foot (or 12-by-15) showcase of functional hand-craftsmanship. Every element was designed for efficiency and survival in the Alaskan wilderness without electricity or running water.

Most of the furniture, including his desk, chairs, and bed, was hand-fashioned by Proenneke using local materials and basic tools like an auger and adze.
