In 1963, the young Italian civil engineer Andrew Salte decided to build a water city in the style of his hometown of Venice in order to end his homesickness. The project was approved in the late 1960s. From the 1970s to the 1980s, it took 10 years to excavate a canal connecting Simcoe Lake, and then it took about 10 years to deploy various supporting facilities. Houses with driveway at the front and the waterway at the back. Various types of houses make the Lagoon City bloomed in the northeast of Toronto.
