With her deep knowledge of the local coastline and genuine passion for sharing it with others, Claire helps our guests experience the magic of the Salish Sea, from spotting wildlife along the shoreline to discovering the quiet beauty of Brentwood Bay.

A fun fact about Claire: She describes Brentwood Bay as a “mini Desolation Sound,” a hidden gem that feels worlds away from the city.

Some things have a way of finding their way home. 🧡

More than two decades after it was carved for the opening of Brentwood Bay Resort, a totem by renowned W̱SÁNEĆ artist Charles Elliott has returned to W̱SÁNEĆ territory.

When the resort opened in 2004, Charles carved two totems to help ground the property in the land where it stands. Over the years, the artworks found new homes, with one travelling all the way across the country to Ontario.

In 2026, its new owner reached out to return the totem to the resort. At the end of summer, he made the journey west with his granddaughter, bringing it home to W̱SÁNEĆ territory.

Before taking its place in our lobby, the totem was carefully restored by Charles’ sons and practicing carvers, Chazz & Matt Elliott.

Today, it stands once again at Brentwood Bay Resort. A story of art, connection, stewardship, and, ultimately, finding its way home.

Celebrating the arrival of a new season at The Arbutus Room.

Last week, we gathered around the Harvest Table, an intimate evening celebrating the launch of our new Fall Equinox Menu, thoughtfully prepared by Chef Ross and his incredible culinary team.

From the beautiful florals by Bespoke Blossoms to the breathtaking tablescape by Trend Decor and menu design by Studio 745, every detail came together to create a golden evening filled with new flavours, local ingredients and good company.

And as the evening drew to a close, stargazing with Centre of the Universe was the perfect way to welcome the season.
