Broken Wheel Bed and Breakfast

Broken Wheel Bed and Breakfast Enjoy the perfect country escape in our 200 year old bed and breakfast farmhouse centrally located in the lovely Annapolis Valley, Nova Scotia.

Welcome to the Broken Wheel Bed and Breakfast! Thanks for visiting our page. We are your hosts, Ralph and Karen Heinemann, and we hope one day we may provide accommodation for you in our century home B & B. Our farmhouse was built in 1804, long before the highways even existed in the Annapolis Valley. Our farm is bordered by Fash (aka Jenny's) Creek on the west side and the mighty Annapol

is River at the back of our property. Our home has witnessed the coming and going of several generations and weathered the test of time and seasons past. We feel privileged to be the newest caretakers of this lovely bit of earth. The Broken Wheel B & B has 3 well appointed guest rooms. All bedrooms contain a private ensuite bathroom. Each room is furnished with authentic antique items but rest assured the mattresses and plumbing are new and modern! We offer a full breakfast between 0700 and 0930. Our menus are simple, tried and true breakfast classics usually featuring fresh farm eggs gathered from our own backyard. Seasonal offerings of fruit, juice, coffee, tea, a slice or two of bacon or sausage links will make their way to the table as well. If guests would like to sleep-in late, arrangements can be made to leave a continental breakfast in the parlour to enjoy at your leisure. Guests are most welcome to explore our property and interact with our many animals. Feel free to pet horses, goats, and bunnies. Our laying hens are always very social and love to greet passersby, especially if they're carrying a bit of watermelon or a tomato slice. And don't forget to enjoy our flower gardens as well. A few hummingbirds usually grace our summers with their presence. The Annapolis Valley hosts many festivals and celebrations all year long. The Valley is the gateway to the Bay of Fundy where the dramatic rise and fall of the highest tides in the world can be witnessed. There are many coastal areas to explore as well as many lakes and rivers inland. There is so much to see and do in Annapolis Valley. We hope to meet you soon.

Thank you to all the guests who did venture out in 2020 and chose to stay with us! We so appreciate your patronage.

After a challenging 2020, we have decided to take a rest from the B&B for the next few months. We hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and best wishes for the coming New Year.

We just received this today!

Although this footage is from Hall's Harbour, the dramatic tide changes can be seen all along the Bay of Fundy. The Hampton Wharf changes like this as well and it's just an 8 minute drive from the Broken Wheel B&B!

ANNAPOLIS ROYAL - Mike Gunn uses an old wooden mallet and chisel to carve out a grove in the stem of the Tancook Whaler he and Digger Leppard are building just off the town’s main street. A red pine strake plank has been ripped by hand and cut to fit that grove and run the length of the gunwale.

We're still sorting photos from the last two seasons and had to share this! This is Sabot's 2014 calf doing some watching of its own. :)

The whales are back! If you have never gone whale watching in the Bay of Fundy - get it on your bucket list! This is one of my highlights every year: to be out on the ocean and witnessing the mighty humpbacks go about their day. It is a truly humbling experience each and every time.

What do you do when you see a patch of seaweed? Play with it, of course! This photo was taken in August 2014.
