CANCELLED/POSTPONED

Regretfully, we are advising that we must postpone the camp clean-up, currently scheduled for Saturday, September 19th. There are a number of factors that have contributed to this decision, and we hope to have a new, camp-wide clean-up date announced soon.

In the meantime, WE NEED YOUR HELP!We are asking for anyone who may be available this Monday, August 17th, to meet us at camp (Stockade) for 9:00am to help us blitz through some buildings in preparation for an upcoming large booking. If you are available to help, even if only for a short period, kindly email [email protected]

We recognize the short notice and appreciate the assistance by those who are available.

NOTICE REGARDING TEMPORARY ROAD RESTRICTIONS FOR THOSE TRAVELLING TO MOUNT NEMO SCOUT CAMP

Temporary traffic impacts along No. 2 Side Road between Appleby Line and Walkers Line will occur during August and September as Conservation Halton, in partnership with the Region of Halton and the Mount Nemo Scout Camp, undertakes an environmental restoration project along Bronte Creek. Construction is expected to continue until mid-September, weather permitting.

The project will stabilize an eroding creek bank, improve water quality, restore fish habitat and protect the federally protected Silver Shiner species. Work includes creek bank stabilization, native tree and shrub planting, and creek restoration to reduce erosion and sediment entering the waterway.

Motorists can expect occasional short delays due to temporary single-lane closures with traffic flaggers during material deliveries. The work is expected to provide lasting environmental benefits by improving the health of Bronte Creek and restoring native habitat.

We thank you for your patience while this important work is being completed!

Mount Nemo Scouts Camp is working with Conservation Halton to complete important work to support Bronte Creek and help enhance Silver Shiner habitat.
Silver Shiner is a federally protected minnow that calls Bronte Creek home. Changes to water quality, including sediment from erosion, disrupt the Silver Shiner’s habitat.

The goal of this project is to help a failing slope that runs through the Mount Nemo Scouts Camp. The work will rehabilitate the slope and protect it against further erosion to benefit aquatic wildlife, including the Silver Shiner.

The work will include protecting the bottom of the slope with large rocks and vegetation, adding more vegetation to the slope, and regrading a section of Bronte Creek to help shift the flows away from the slope.

Mount Nemo Scout Camp is very grateful for all of the partnerships that have been formed to have this important work completed!
