The changeable winds that hit yesterday blew some smoke in overnight but projected winds today and over the next few days will blow it out and keep it away until at least Monday evening when another day of changeable winds is expected. It looks like we should be in the clear soon.

Congratulations to our neighbours in Clinton who get to return home today. Over the past few weeks we’ve watched (and helped where we could) as this small town has rallied together in ways that only small towns can. Our friends and family have experienced a lot of upheaval, stress and uncertainty over the past few weeks and come out the other side stronger and more united despite some heartbreaking losses. Sending our best wishes for your homecoming!

Even overnight no smoke is creeping up the canyons currently.

It’s been a beautiful week and is expected to keep up through the weekend with current weather projections. I will keep forensically inspecting the weather predictions and cross referencing them with smoke maps, air quality indexes, wind directions and firemaps until it looks like we are in the clear.

We are hopeful! With the sustained forecasted winds today and rain to the north of us we should have entirely clear air by this evening!

Wind direction overlaid on the smoke map is in the comments. At 4pm the direction will go full north towards the south which will only improve things further.

Below are photos from 7:55am and again a few moments ago at 9am today Aug.8. The smoke is clearing! If the winds sustain as forecasted it should stay gone until at least Friday when the wind is expected to start shifting.
