🔥 Level 2 Total Fire Ban in Effect – Township of Greater Madawaska 🔥
Effective August 8, 2025
Due to ongoing hot, dry weather conditions and an increased wildfire risk, a Level 2 Fire Ban is now in effect under By-law 81-2016.

🚫 Prohibited Activities (Effective Immediately):
All open-air burning, including brush, debris, and grass fires
All campfires, regardless of size or location
Chimineas, fire pits, and burn barrels
Fireworks, sky lanterns, and similar devices
Ban busters and outdoor wood-burning appliances used for recreation
❗ All existing burn permits are suspended
❗ No new permits will be issued while the ban is in place

✅ What Is Still Allowed:
-Propane or charcoal barbecues, in good working order and used responsibly
-Propane Fire-pits, in good working order and used responsibly
-Outdoor wood furnaces, as permitted by by-law

⚠️ Important Notes: Violating this fire ban may result in a minimum fine of $500, and you may be held financially responsible for any firefighting costs incurred.
This ban will remain in effect until further notice and will only be lifted once conditions are safe for burning.
