In the end, the season is really about the people who chose to spend it here. Families, friends, and colleagues came to Wales Island this year and made it their own. Some returned for another season, some came for the first time. Thank you to every group who shared their days with us on the northwest coast of BC. We hope the trip stays with you long after, and we look forward to seeing familiar faces again.

Most of what makes a day here run happens when guests do not see it. Rooms are turned and set right, the dining room is readied for the evening, lunches are packed and dinners started, the boats are fueled and kept maintained, and the crab and prawns come in fresh. Your catch is cleaned, vacuum packed, and boxed before you think to ask. It is quiet work, and most of it happens out of sight.

Sixteen staff look after twelve guests, and the days feel effortless because of all of them.

Behind every fish that came over the rail this season, there was a guide who put it there. A few of the catches from our waters this year, salmon and halibut both. What the photos do not show is the read on the tide, the timing, and the knowledge that gets a group onto fish. That work belongs to our guide team. The last group of the season lifted off this afternoon.

They left with some of the largest coho we saw all year, and with more halibut than most weeks allow, after the daily limit moved to two.

They enjoyed a beautiful evening dinner in the gazebo, with the inlet going quiet, and the sky doing what it does here in early September.

That closes 2026 on the water.

Twelve guests, one helicopter, twenty minutes of breathtaking scenery, before approaching Wales Island, situated along the Alaska border on the northwest coast of British Columbia.

Fishing licenses are provided and ready alongside your rain gear in your size. Grab a beverage and something to eat, and head down to the boats.
