Born and raised in Winnipeg, Darryl Huculak discovered his love for food in his grandmothers’ kitchens, where he learned that food is about connection, tradition, and care.

Starting in restaurant kitchens at just 14, Darryl spent years honing his craft through mentorship, travel, farming, and culinary experiences. Alongside his wife, Stephanie, he went on to build into a beloved community gathering place.

After more than 16 years — and challenges including COVID-19 and wildfires — Darryl continues to cook with heart, authenticity, and gratitude, believing every dish has a story to tell.

Three chefs. One ingredient. Three very different ways of looking at it.

Chef Liana.. Chef Liana Robberecht joins Chef Dean Fast and Chef Darryl Huculak at The Westin Calgary Airport on October 9 for Gathering Around the Table — A Bison Tale.

For nearly two decades, I have admired Liana’s career and had the privilege of collaborating with her. She is one of the connective forces in Calgary’s culinary community, an inspiring, inclusive chef who shares her knowledge freely, has opened doors for countless others and continues to blaze a trail of her own. This is not simply three chefs cooking side by side. It is three culinary perspectives meeting around one ingredient.
