We are so excited to attend JAN Franschhoek, ‘an exceptional, seasonal food and wine experience presented from a charming historic cottage, Veepos, right in the middle of the Franschhoek Valley’s most picturesque lavender fields. Based on the popular TV series, JAN RSVP, this culinary encounter shares a nostalgic story with food as told by South Africa’s first Michelin-starred chef, Jan Hendrik van der Westhuizen

JAN Franschhoek takes guests on a sensory journey comprising ingredients inspired by the mountain and the river. Traditional and modern techniques are combined in the creation of a series of dishes inspired by the JAN Library’s formidable collection of South African cookbooks; presented at an intimate communal table which brings Jan Hendrik’s love of community and his South African heritage to this fine dining experience.’

The food was exceptional, the company very interesting and the experience magical !

‘La Cotte Farm is uniquely situated a stone’s throw from the charming village of Franschhoek. It offers close proximity to the fun and bustle of the main street with all the quiet, privacy and rural charm of a working wine farm.’

Wow, we loved every minute of our stay at La Cotte ! The Orchard self-catering cottage was tastefully decorated and meals on the ‘stoep’ very relaxing. The uninterrupted views of the Franschoek Valley is amazing. Breakfast at the restaurant was extra special with perfect food choices and views of the valley to match.
Walking to town takes only a few minutes with lots of fine dining options and beautiful shops.
We would recommend La Cotte Farm 100%.

‘Babylonstoren is one of the oldest Cape Dutch farms, set at the foot of Simonsberg in the Franschhoek wine valley. It has a fruit and vegetable garden of beauty and diversity, unique accommodation, fine food and wine, and evokes a sense of wellbeing.’

This is definitely a must visit when in the Cape!
Plan to come early morning to be able to walk through the gardens and eat at the restaurants.
This is one of my absolute favourite places to visit.

The Huguenot Monument in Frranschoek is a must visit. This beautiful monument is dedicated to the cultural influences that Huguenots have brought to the Cape Colony (and ultimately the whole of South Africa) after their immigration during the 17th and 18th centuries.

The monument celebrates the Huguenots' successful struggle for religious freedom. The cross is right at the top with the sun of righteousness just below. The three high arches represent the Trinity.

Just awesome to spend some time to understand the history of South Africa a bit better. Guided tours are available.

Our time in South Africa will be spent in the Cape Town area which is on the western side of the country. This area has beautiful mountains, jaw dropping coastlines and thé famous fruit and wine lands.

We shall be staying in the most stunning Rose Cottage, situated just outside Franschoek , just the perfect country setting.. From there we’ll do day trips to explore the area. What a spoil !

Franschhoek ([fransˈɦuk]; Afrikaans for "French Corner", Dutch spelling before 1947 Fransche Hoek) is a small town in the Western Cape Province and one of the oldest towns in South Africa. Formerly known as Oliphants hoek (as there were vast groups of elephants roaming the valley). It is situated about 75 kilometres from Cape Town, a 45 minute drive away.

The Bow Valley is a cross-country skier’s dream
destination. From Kananaskis all the way to
Lake Louise have hundreds of kilometres of cross-country ski trails that is suitable for all
ski levels.

The .nordiccentre offers more than 65 km of groomed trails. Night skiing is available on 6.5 km of illuminated trails.

Kananaskis is also a favourite spot for cross-country skiing with groomed trails.
