Good day! Just a fabulous day on the water. Birders from Ontario originally from France, New Brunswick, and New York joined us in the morning. After spending all morning on a specific perch in backside cove, the sea-eagle decided to put on a show. She flew along the shoreline, perched for a couple of minutes, flew again and perched away from the water. After 20 minutes she decided to fly back to Salmon Point. Always an incredible sight to watch her fly over open water.
At Salmon Point the sea-eagle perched, flew, perched, flew and perched again. Show off!
Esther a birder from the Netherlands joined us in the afternoon and we found the sea-eagle at Salmon Point. The conditions were just about perfect. Calm seas and bright sunshine. The sea-eagle was perched out in the open, full body viewable, as well as both shoulder patches, claws and tail feathers. Esther didn’t bring her camera so we obliged her. We don’t usually take pictures during a tour because we are busy dealing with the elements, angling the boat and watching the depth finder. Today, without wind and swell, we turned off the motor, sat back and took a couple of pictures.
We mentioned before and we think stopping by the S**g Rock is a treat for all birders. The kittiwake chicks are growing, the black guillemots are nesting, and the sights, sounds and smells are just incredible. Everyone today throughly enjoy cruising the rock. We also went by the fledged bald eagle at Green’s Harbour point and we watched her/ him fly. Just lovely.
